FALL 2019 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & CORE SESSIONS

Emerging Leaders participants must complete the following program requirements throughout the semester-long program and meet deadlines.

Submit the Emerging Leaders Application

Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation email.

September 4, 2019

Attend a Leadership Weekend

All participants are required to attend one Leadership Weekend.  The retreat serves as an orientation session, allowing you to understand how to successfully complete the program.

You will meet other students, participate in activities, and dive deep into leadership discussions, resulting in a better understanding of who you are as an individual leader.  All meals are included.

September 13-14, 2019

Track Program Participation in Cougsync

You'll track your participation in this program through your Cougsync e-portfolio.  We'll go through e-portfolio setup during leadership weekend orientation

All Semester

Attend the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Leadership Conference

October 5, 2019

Attend 5 Core Sessions

These workshops are designed around the first three C's of the social change model: consciousness of self, congruence, and commitment. You will learn more about yourself and your leadership values, as well as how to be most successful in school and campus life at WSU. Specific topics include communication, delegation, time management, financial well being, exploring values, happiness and cultural competency.

November 19, 2019

Participate in 15 Additional Events, Groups, or Activities on Campus

These can be any activity listed in CougSync, such as joining a club, playing in an intramural sports game, or attending a guest speaker that your professor assigns as extra credit. Check out the CougSync calendar for options. Select the "ALL" filter in the calendar to view all campus events.

Submit Graduation Application


This is the easy part. Be sure to apply for your leadership certificate before the deadline.

Celebrate Your Success at the Leadership Legacy Celebration

Bring your family and friends to watch as you receive your Emerging Leaders certificate of completion and view highlights from your journey.
