The President's Award for Leadership

Since 1996, the President's award has been an honor bestowed annually to students and others representing the top leaders at WSU.  Recipients of this prestigious award demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community as well as to those who support leadership development in WSU students.

Award Ceremony 2022 is on April 19!

WSU holds a ceremony each April to celebrate recipients of the President's Award for Leadership, The Virginia E. Thomas Scholarship, The Bruce and Willa Zwaschka Scholarship, and a range of Student Organization categories.

The Virginia E. Thomas Endowed Scholarship

Established by Virginia's colleagues, friends, and students, this scholarship is awarded concurrently with the President’s Awards for Leadership during the April Ceremony.

Bruce & Willa Zwaschka Scholarship

2021 was the second year of award for the Bruce and Willa Zwaschka Scholarship. This remarkable award provides a $10,000 renewable scholarship to an undergraduate student from diverse backgrounds (including first-generation, multicultural, low-income, students with disabilities) who have had demonstrated leadership and service on any of the WSU campuses in registered student organizations, the local community, and/or state or national involvement.
