Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD)
The 21st annual LEAD event is a celebration of WSU student leaders and those who have mentored and supported the efforts of these students as they work towards leadership and social change.
Student Involvement, the Center for Civic Engagement, and ASWSU partner together to form a committee that selects the recipients of the President's Award, and sponsors the LEAD event where recipients are honored. Beginning at 5:00pm, guests are invited to visit the Gallery of Leadership and reception, which features a variety of projects in which WSU students show themselves to be true Cougar leaders and have made a difference in the community and campus.
Following the gallery and reception, the current ASWSU officers are acknowledged for their service throughout the year, and the 2017-2018 officers will be inaugurated.
At the conclusion of the inauguration, the presentation of the 2017 President's Awards begins.

"I believe my leadership engagement has impacted my organization as well as the Latino student body in a positive way.
As an ASWSU Senator I asked the Latino students what they wanted to chance about WSU in order to make it a better place and to represent them at the student government level. Their feedback made me realize about all the work that needs to be done at WSU in order to make it inclusive with all cultures.
I hope to open doors for people in my organization and to impact our WSU community in a positive way by encouraging students to take leadership opportunities that are available for everyone. My main goal is to encourage more students to become active within our campus and promote collaboration. I truly do the best I can to make WSU a better place for everyone."
